WEEKLY FOOD SERIES This is a full day experience with surfing, lunch at the Roadside and tasting local beer, then a trip to the Smokehouse Visitor Centre.
Start your day in Fanore with Ali at Aloha Surf school assembling at 11am for a two hour session until 1pm. All inclusive with equipment, instruction, hot shower facility. €30 for children / €35 for adults.
Drive back to Lisdoonvarna for lunch in Kieran’s Kitchen in the Roadside Tavern. Lunch offer €14 inclusive a pint of Burren Brew Stout, Lager or Beer. A la carte menu available.
Meet Peter Curtin, the Master Brewer, who will tell you about the brewing of Burren Black Stout, Burren Red Ale & Burren Gold Lager and give you a taste of each of them. The Roadside Tavern is the only place where you can taste these craft beers just metres away from the brewery. It cannot get fresher than that!
Birgitta Curtin will finish off the day with a unique opportunity to see tje two large kilns where they do their daily smokings (in small groups of 5). It is an educational food taste experience for all ages bringing an understanding of what smoking food is about.
Meet at the Burren Smokehouse Visitor Centre to see a demonstration of our small kiln, the oak shavings and to get an understanding of our patented smoking process. We go down in groups of 5 to see the large kilns. Following is the tasting experience session when we compare different Burren Smoked Irish Organic Salmon tastes and textures side by side – hot smoked & cold smoked some with marinades. We talk about the labelling laws for smoked salmon, and where we source our ingredients and raw materials. Questions and answers all along the presentation
